It's Not What You Think
04:22
|
|||
As long as you are standing on the earth
As long as there is starlight in your eyes
As long as you are circling the sun
As long as you are reaching for that prize
It’s not what you think, it’s what you feel
It’s not what you think, it’s what you feel
It’s not what you feel, it’s what you know is real
It’s not what you feel, it’s what your soul reveals
As long as you are walking on these stones
As long as there are waves upon your shore
As long as there is blood inside your bones
As long as you are crying out for more
It’s not what you think, it’s what you feel
It’s not what you think, it’s what you feel
It’s not what you feel, it’s what your soul reveals
It’s not what you feel, it’s what you know is real
You can’t steal it from someone else
Can’t buy it from the shelf
You gotta reach inside and find it for yourself
You gotta peel away the crust
Blow away the dust
You are wiser than you know and better than you trust

Take this apple in memory of all that you’ve seen
To remind you of the places you’ve been
Take this apple in honour of your childhood
You gaze into your crystal ball
See your life before the fall
Look at this apple see the loss of something good
Would you go back there if you could?
A rich red carpet rolled out between
Orchard aisles and fields of green
Breath in this apple, breathe the taste of windfall fruit
Acres of trees stand trembling with applause
For a boy running windswept with the moon in his hair
Standing in the damp fall air
I shiver under streetlight glare
When did you leave home?
When did you become so alone?
How did this apple fall on concrete instead of grass,
Instead of earth and root?
Breathe the taste of windfall fruit
Take this apple in memory of all that you’ve seen
To remind you of the places you’ve been
Take this apple in honour of your childhood

You are the radiance of light
the swirling energies
motion of atom and stars
the life force in the trees
You are more than what I touch and see
You’re the life inside the life in me
You are more than what I touch and see
You’re the life inside the life in me
You are the hidden connections
darkness of the storm
strength of wind, cool of rain
the formless behind all forms
You are more than what I touch and see
You’re the life inside the life in me
You are more than what I touch and see
You’re the life inside the life in me
You are the radiance of light
the swirling energies
motion of atom and stars
the life force in the trees
You are more than what I touch and see
You're the life inside the life in me
You are more than what I touch and see
You're the power inside the power in me
You are more than what I touch and see
You're the light inside the light in me
You are more than what I touch and see
You're the love inside the love in me

A Thousand Silent Voices
04:09
|
|||
treasure buried in the field
a home within our dwelling place
find that spark concealed
of life and love and sweet embrace
a thousand silent voices are singing
and bells are ringing us to gather there
enter in and find the holy altar
where sacred incense rises like a prayer
darkness hold us in her womb
in stillness and in naked warmth
till we hear the hidden heartbeat
that feeds us as we await our birth
a thousand silent voices…
in blazing light the stars were born
in rushing elemental heat
find that hidden fire
burning in our word and deed
a thousand silent voices…

Deeper Dreams
04:07
|
|||
Love of money may have won the day
But deeper dreams still rule the night
Big box stores seem like they’re here to stay
But deeper dreams still rule the night
Superhighways may have won the day
But deeper dreams still rule the night
Mega landfills are here to stay
But deeper dreams still rule the night
Cause it’s your money or your life
Sometimes you have to choose
When you’re standing at the end of a knife
Which one can you afford to lose
Your money or your life
Monster houses may have won the day
But deeper dreams still rule the night
While forest fall wild creatures are all swept away
This sacred earth will not give up without a fight
This world will dawn into a new light
It’s your money or your life
Sometimes you have to choose
When you’re standing on the edge of a knife
Which one can you afford to lose
Your money or your life
It’s your money or your life…

Seasons Together
03:44
|
|||
Whenever I see you
a light ignites behind my eyes
Whenever I see you
a dozen birds take off and fly
with rushing wings into the sky
Whenever I see you
Whenever I’m near you
my feet float above the ground
Whenever I’m near you
snow falls down and softens the sound
of the city all around
Whenever I’m near you
We have been through every kind of weather
I will go through my seasons together with you
Whenever I’m with you
the winter snow melts
Whenever I’m with you
cool streams flow, a warm breeze blows
something new begins to grow
Whenever I’m with you
We have been through every kind of weather...
Whenever we talk
my inhibitions come undone
Whenever we talk
butterflies catch the evening sun
feels like summer has begun
Whenever we talk
We have been through every kind of weather...

Mountains Into the Sea
04:02
|
|||
Will we build our houses on solid rock
instead of castles on dry riverbeds
Driving to the mall cause it’s too far to walk
we feed the carbon blanket overhead
Cargo ships set sail from China
filled with everything that we desire
Someday they’ll be mining the landfill
For all the things that we acquire and throw away
We’re moving mountains into the sea
till it overflows the levee
But we don’t have to change a thing
We’re still waiting for science to set us free
We go to war for oil
Poison the Earth for a thousand years
We must protect our way of living
from the monsters of our fears
We’re moving mountains into the sea...
When will we see the devastation
Listen to the scientific theory
When will we heal our imagination
We could be the ones to set us free
We’re moving mountains into the sea...

Noam Chomsky
04:38
|
|||
I have this voice inside my head
it rehearses things before I say them
sometimes it speaks even as I'm speaking
the voice of my thoughts
lately it's been speaking in the voice of Noam Chomsky
last night I had dinner with him in a dream
He said, we live in an economy that demands frequent wars
a massive portion of it is about
maintaining an army, making weapons
we have no choice
but to go to war
to justify all our preparations for war
Lord have mercy on all our sins
may we find peace and freedom from within
may we know the meaning of enough
may it be on earth as it is in heaven above
We live in an economy that requires the existence of poverty
it's been estimated that our military budget would be enough
to end poverty
if our priorities were different
but then, who would assemble all the cheap consumer goods
to which we've become accustomed
Lord have mercy…
We live in an economy that gives us the kind of leaders we have
to quote one American president
the whole world wants what we got
and we're not gonna give it to them
we could end terrorism if we could lift the economic oppression
the desperation that so many people live with
if we could only share
But if we had different political leaders
who would protect our mutual fund portfolios
our saving for a comfortable retirement
Lord have mercy…
He said all this while his food went cold
and then he took a bite of glazed carrot
I said, Noam, what gives you hope?
He said, when we feel the pain
Cause until we feel the anguish of this monstrous system
nothing will change
Lord have mercy…

Waiting to be Found
03:12
|
|||
You’re going somewhere else from here
This is not your final resting place
You’re packing up your old room
with your hopes and fears in a suitcase
and you’re waiting for the bus
Your mother’s love wasn’t made to last
It was broken from an ancient crime
Close the garden gate as you pass
from the innocence of summer time
You feel the chill in the air
There are other loves
Seasons come around
You’re carrying a precious diamond
just waiting to be found
You step up through the open door
You pay your own fare now
The friends you thought would see you through
are all sleeping in, in this sleepy town
You lay your hand against the glass
There are other loves
Seasons come around
You’re carrying a precious diamond
just waiting to be found
You’re carrying a precious diamond
just waiting to be found
You’re going somewhere else from here
This is not your final resting place

God's Vacation
04:27
|
|||
God hung up his kingly crown
He said I knew I had to lay it down
I’m tired of being in control
People don’t need me
telling them what to do
telling them where to go
He climbed down from his high and holy throne
He said I’m tired of ruling on my own
Crushed his royal seal with a stone
and let the wind
carry the dust away
let the wind blow
I’m going on vacation
Got some traveling to do
Have a look at my creation
Taste a fine wine or two
I’m going on vacation
Heaven knows I’ve done my share
You can find me when you need me
Just don’t look for me up there
I’m going on vacation
Gonna take a rest
So could you all take over
I know you’ll do your best
God hung up his kingly crown
He said I knew I had to lay it down
I’m tired of being in control
People don’t need me
telling them what to do
telling them where to go
I’m going on vacation
Got some traveling to do
Have a look at my creation
Taste a fine wine or two
I’m going on vacation
Heaven knows I’ve done my share
Doesn’t mean that I don’t love you
Doesn’t mean that I don’t care
I’m going on vacation
Gonna take a break
So could you all take over
Don’t worry ‘bout mistakes
I’m going on vacation
Gonna take a rest
You can find me when you need me
I know you’ll do your best
You’ll find me when you need me
I know you’ll do your best

Echoes of the Crash
04:29
|
|||
His face is a crumpled up map of the places you don’t want to be
His mouth is a bombed out city, broken but free
Yeah he’s free, master of his destiny
He’s free, but not like you or me
His mind went on a journey, far across the sea
Now he’s houseless but happy, and Jesus keeps him company
Yeah he’s free, wanting for nothing
He’s free, not like you or me
‘cause we’re living in the land of frozen fears
with promises of luxury and shortages of cash
Living in the land of frozen fears
with profiteers and doomsday seers and echoes of the crash
Living in the land of fears
Find me on the other side of night
Walk with me in beauty and simple delight
Find me on the other side of sight
It will be allright, it will be allright, it will be allright
‘cause we free, wanting for nothing
yeah we’re free…
Though we’re living in the land of frozen fears
with promises of luxury and shortages of cash
Living in the land of frozen fears
with profiteers and doomsday seers and echoes of the crash
We’re mortgaging the future while running from the past
We’re doomed to live with nature, we’ll be in her arms at last
Living in the land of fears
with promises of luxury and mountains of trash…
Living in the land of frozen fears
with profiteers and doomsday seers and echoes of the crash
Living in the land of fears

I am that great and fiery force
sparkling in everything that lives;
in shining of the river’s course,
in greening grass that glory gives.
I shine in glitter on the seas,
in burning sun, in moon and stars.
In unseen wind, in verdant trees
I breathe within, both near and far.
And where I breathe there is no death,
and meadows glow with beauties rife.
I am in all, the spirit’s breath,
the thundered word, for I am Life.
I am that great and fiery force
sparkling in everything that lives;
in shining of the river’s course,
in greening grass that glory gives.

Someday
03:36
|
|||
Someday this world is gonna change around
Could be tomorrow, or next week, or next year
I can already see it
We’re gonna wake up to a world
a world without fear
Someday we’ll be talking with the animals
With the rabbits and the birds and all the others
I can already hear it
We’re gonna wake up to a world
of sisters and brothers
Someday everyone will get enough to eat
No one will ever go hungry or be in need
I can already taste it
We’re gonna wake up to a world
a world without greed
Someday we’ll be breathing clean air
We’ll ride bicycles and walk and know the power of the breeze
I can already smell it
We’re gonna wake up to a world
of flowers and trees
Someday every child is gonna be embraced
with attention and respect and love
I can already feel it
We’re gonna wake up to a world
a world that is safe
Someday this world is gonna turn around
Could be tomorrow, or next week, or next year
I can already believe in it
We’re gonna wake up to a world
It’s all so near
A world without fear
it’s almost here
